GRAFTON TO GRAFTON
A patron once called our library to ask which bus dropped off in front of it. We soon realized that no buses run along Route 57 in Grafton, Ohio, and she was actually looking for the Grafton Library in Grafton, Massachusetts. Inspired by this mix-up, the Grafton Library (MA) staff came up with an idea to connect with other Grafton libraries across the country.
Now, Grafton-Midview Public Library is teaming up with three other Grafton libraries in three different states to create the "Grafton-to-Grafton Pen Pal Program." This program aims to revive the art of letter writing, connect pen pals of all ages and abilities, foster friendships among patrons of each library, and lift spirits during the winter months. Participating libraries include Grafton-Midview Public Library in Grafton, OH; Grafton Public Library in Grafton, MA; USS Liberty Memorial Library in Grafton, WI; and Taylor County Public Library in Grafton, WV.
People of all ages and abilities can sign up for the program on their library's website. Registration opens on November 18th and closes on December 31st at all participating libraries. Library staff will then match pen pals based on age, interests, and writing level.
Each library will collect, post, and send letters to the other three locations. Starting January 11th, handwritten letters can be dropped off at our library here in Grafton, OH.
